A cconvo with Suzanne

Suz:what's inside of people?

Me: blood and bones and muscles.

Suz: is blood a liquid or a solid?

Me: liquid, like juice.

Suz: what's a solid?

Me: Um, bones.

Suz: and what's a gas?

Me: Your breath.

Suz: or a fart...and wolves have blood juice inside of them.

I should note that the source of the gas/liquid/solid ideas come from They Might Be Giants, Here Comes Science

Very funny. The French obsession with wolves has started, I see. I remember the Big Bad Wolf from childhood but it's a bit more than that here.

We regularly discuss solids and liquids here. But it's generally in relation to excretion -- any excuse to say "crotte-crotte!"

Oh, the week starting thing -- we had an Irish calendar last year that started, sensibly enough, on Monday. This year's Irish calendar starts on Sunday. We bought the new one at the airport so maybe it's for export only...

I don't remember the wolf being such a problem either as a 3 year old in New JErsey. But French kids are terrified of the wolf. When school started, she had no idea what a wolf was. And now we have to make sure he's not in her room before we go to sleep. ugh...

As for the calendar...I decided it's just one of those things. The problem is that Suz is all confused now between Sunday/Monday. The thing that helps though is that she knows on Sunday we can walk in the street because it's market day...she is so very French sometimes.

and a last thing - the first discussions we had about solid/liquid/gas went something like:

My poop is solid. My pee is liquid. What's a gas?

Oh, and the snails, has she started on the snails yet? My nearly three year old has been singing a Petit Escargot song all day. And after the big boy went on a school trip in a forest, the class made snails to remember their trip. Snails in the forest? I get them at the seashore, but not in the woods...
