When I got home this evening, I found my family in the kitchen. Everyone had a glass (or cup) in their hand. Suz informed me that they'd started aperitif without me, since I was late getting home and we go on vacation tomorrow. So I poured myself a glass of ginger ale (known to French people as Cah-nah-da Dr-eye). As I filled my glass, Max said "sparkly". So I turned to my husband and asked if he'd had some. He said yes, "et il a dit que ça pique". Is it so surprising that Max should speak English to his mother and French to his father? No. Is it exciting? Extremely!
