As the wise Madame K commented a while back, the finitions (ie final touches of the house) almost finished her off. Yeah.
I've had a bad feeling about the plumber since the start. And knowing that his pee particles are now encrusted in my living room ceiling/bathroom floor doesn't reassure me.
What do you do when you finally give notice on your apartment and the very next day your husband calls you and says "I don't know when I'll be home. There was a dégat des eaux". WHAT? I ask for my little Franco-American brain hears dégat des eaux and thinks of water main break with water shooting into the sky. No, no, he reassures me. Just the pipe connecting the upstairs toilet with the pipes wasn't put in right and pee leaked into the floor and was absorbed by the rockwool insulation and the dry wall ceiling below. Ugh.
That's taken care of now, but then what about the gouges that mysteriously appeared in the finished dry wall? A disgruntled worker perhaps? They too miraculously dissapeared beneath a layer of plaster...
The floors aren't down yet, but we do have 2 working toilets, gas, heat and no leaks in the roof. I think that's something to celebrate.
And we also have a deadline, two in fact: April 18th - the day my sister arrives from Los Angeles and will be sleeping in the house and May 21st - the day we have to be out of the apartment. And do I mention all the painting over of stains, covering of cat damage and stain removal on the terrible quality linoleum floor we have to do before we move? Nah...let me just dream of the disappointingly too-green tiles that will be in my bathroom.

Yikes! Help things get straightened out quickly.
Do you have any photos of the tiles? Im curious!
Oh, we had plumbing problems too, but I just neglected to blog it. Like the time the 3rd floor neighbors came home and found 4cm. of pee in their entire apartment and of course the offending pipe was in our garage and had to be emptied...
I'll post some pix once I have some. Thank you for not telling me about the leaks earlier. I would have done me in.
