Rainbow Connection

I'm a superstitious girl.

I refuse to travel without the jade pendant my grandparents brought back from New Zealand when I was 10.

Until the elastic wore and the crotch ripped, I wore the same pair of underwear when I raced for 15 years. Yes, it was washed.

I always wear black and royal blue- but not with light blue since those are the colors I was wearing when I got hit by a car when I was 12 - when I have an exam or important appointment.

So that's why when I saw the double rainbow on my bike this morning, I instantly thought of my mother-in-law who passed away 3 years ago today. I thought it was maybe her way of communicating with me and telling me that everything's ok. I'm not a religious personal, but I do believe in signs. And somehow, I think this was her smiling at me.

I'm big on signs, too. I have my superstitious numbers and everything.

In fact, just this past month they added numbers to the mailboxes in our building. We were the lucky winners of number 13, which for many is an unlucky number but for me is a number of change... and things have definitely begun to change since I've been back.

So maybe this was a good sign for me.

And they say that there's no such thing as coincidence, so I'd vote for the rainbows being a smile down from heaven.

I'm not superstitius, like at all, but my entire life really looks like an airtight case against randomness, coincidences, luck, etc... I dont know about life after death, I'm totally clueless about that, but just in case, i'm always on the lookout for some sign from the other side. So far, though, no luck but who knows.

I am not really superstitious, but once had a very weird ESP experience. I was 17, in school, and suddenly had a thought about my neighbor's little boy, who was 5 years old and had Down Syndrome. It was like a flash that told me that he was dying. I had just returned home after school that afternoon, when the doorbell rang. It was my neighbor, who had come to tell us that her little boy had died, rather suddenly, that afternoon - at the very moment when I had had this "flash" revelation about him dying. I have never experienced anything like that since.

I can understand what you mean... I often find myself believing in superstitions and also in "hunches" so to speak... And I think I probably would have seen the same sign in that rainbow. My boyfriend lost his mother a year and a half ago, so I understand where you're coming from. It's so hard.

That was very sweet.

When I have heard you talk about her in the past, you always spoke so kindly about her. I am sure she was a great lady.
